The VEC consists of a 3-storey inspection hall and a 7-storey office block with a total construction floor area of 64,350m². It replaces the three existing VECs in Kowloon Bay and To Kwa Wan and the daily handling capacity can be 1,000 vehicle inspections per day. During construction, 3 nos of DCA400ESEI gensets with SSME were deployed for electrical power provision for 4 tower cranes and site facliities such as lighting, pumps, hoist lifts, welders, etc. Remote monitoring can keep track of the genset condition and 43% fuel cost reduction was made.
